P.E

Foundation Stage: In EYFS, the children explore walking, jumping and hopping. They will practice both standing and seated balance. They explore moving a ball both with their feet and by throwing and catching. Learning behaviours will include following instructions, working together, taking turns and following rules.
KS1 (Year 1/2): In KS1, children explore combining movements together and transitioning between movements. They continue to develop their teamwork and start to focus on attacking and defending. They explore dodging and pathways.
KS2 (Year 3/4): In Lower KS2, the children are introduced to passing and receiving. These will be taught in the concept of various mainstream sports. They understand the concept of batting and fielding. They collaborate and communicate during team games. Children develop a dance character and extend sequences with a partner.
KS2 (Year 5/6): In Upper KS2, the children consolidate passing and receiving.  They create and apply defending and attacking tactics and build an understanding of team formations. These will be taught in a variety of mainstream team sports. In dance, they create movements with interlinking moves and they use improvisation.  Children in Y5/6 are also offered swimming tuition to meet the age-related expectations.
