Computing
Computing is taught through the three different strands: Computer science, digital literacy and information technology and through using the scheme of purple mash these 3 strands are embedded through different units in each year group.
KS1 (Year 1/2): In KS1, children develop their basic skills of logging on, mouse skills and navigating technology. They also look at programming by learning about algorithms and coding. They develop their word processing skills and also create a simple animation. They get the opportunity to complete some data handling.
LKS2 (Year 3/4): In Lower KS2, children will explore computers and networks. They will develop their coding skills and handling data by exploring spreadsheets and database . There will be the opportunity to explore different writing styles and look at emails. The children will look at animation and how to search effectively.
UKS2 (Year 5/6): In Upper KS2, children develop their programming, coding and data handling skills in more detail. They start to explore the concept of blogging and quizzing. Children have the opportunity to design their own games.
Online safety is taught in all year groups.
