As part of the Olympic legacy, the Department of Education and the Department of Health have made £150 million available to all primary schools in the United Kingdom. This equates to a grant of £8000 per school, plus an additional £5 per pupil in key stages one and two. The funding is ring-fenced, meaning that it can only be spent on improving the provision of physical education, school sport and healthy, active lifestyles.
