Our School Prayer

Dear Lord,

Please bless us all,

Help us to care for one another and to forgive one another,

To play and work well together,

Help us to be thankful and always to remember the love of Christ and spread his love wherever we go.

Amen

Meet the AGC

We have an Academy Governance Committee (AGC) that has some delegated responsibilities from the Trust Board of Directors as outlined in the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation. They engage with our local community. They do not hold the academy to account but carry out the following role:

Vision and Values

  • Agree the vision and values for the academy with reference to the SIAMS Schedule, in partnership with the academy community, ensuring they are aligned with the Trust’s Vision and embracing equality.
  • Monitor that the vision and the values are being ‘lived out’ in all aspects of the life of the academy.

Community/Safeguarding Governor (appointed by the Governing Body)
End of term: 14/03/2026
My wife and I moved to Middleton in 2014 and have two children (the eldest, Thomas, attends the school). We instantly connected with the Cottingham/Middleton village community spirit and have relished the opportunity to support the various good causes. Extending this support to the village school, as a Governor, felt very natural. My career in the oil industry, predominantly in Sales / Account Management, should allow me to offer my business skills to the role as Governor. This, together with always aiming for the highest standards, I am enthusiastic about contributing to the thriving success of this school.

Staff Governor (ex-officio)
Cottingham CofE Primary School is at the heart of the community and as the Headteacher/Governor, I hope that I can influence the direction in which the school will grow and develop. In both my Headteacher/Governor, roles I will be able to support the Academy Governance Committee (AGC) in enabling them to hold myself and the school staff to account. I hope that my experience will support the development of each member of the AGC and give them an insight into education and the impact that we can have on the children attending our school. The role of a Governor has changed over the years and I feel strongly that our Governance Committee have a very important role to play in the life of a small, rural primary school. I will be open, transparent and welcoming to all questions, feedback and ideas that are put forward throughout the year. I am very confident that the current AGC is a strong Committee with each member having different skill sets.

My Daughter Hollie attends Cottingham Primary School and my son Steven will be joining the Cottingham family in September 2020. I love that Cottingham Primary school is a small primary school, where everyone is truly supportive of each other and want the best for everyone and the school. When the opportunity arose for me becoming a Parent Governor, I felt it was an opportunity to give something back to the school which had already shown so much support to my family. I am an experienced School Governor, having been on the Finance Committee for another Primary school in Corby.

I am very pleased to have been appointed as one of the church governors at Cottingham CofE Primary School. I was born and raised in Leicestershire and have lived in Middleton for 15 years, close to the school, and run a garden landscaping and maintenance business locally. I am married to Debbie, a local music teacher. I myself enjoy singing and making music. I have significant experience in education, having taught for over 15 years, both in secondary and primary phases. In addition to this I am trained as an engineer. As a member of the Parochial Church Committee of St Mary Magdalene Church in Cottingham I feel ideally placed to help link the two organisations and support the school in delivering the curriculum.

I am extremely pleased to have been appointed as community governor at Cottingham CofE Primary. My daughter Eloise is currently in year 4, having joined the school in year 2. We chose the school based on it’s friendly atmosphere; having seen so many happy, confident and polite children at our viewing. Eloise has had the happiest 2 years at the school during which we have seen her grow in confidence both personally and academically. As a parent I have been so impressed with the warmth, inclusivity and sense of fun that comes with being part of the Cottingham School Community, alongside the clear dedication of the staff team and I am proud to be able to give something back to the school through this role. My working life has been spent in supportive services; starting out in a local Community Based Mental Health Team and currently for a local Housing Group as Senior Services Manager for Independent Living.

My husband and I moved to Cottingham in 2013 and fell in love with the village, joining in with village life and many causes involved with it. We started our family here, have two sons and a dog and In 2021, our eldest son joined the Cottingham C of E family. From viewing the school even during covid times; we loved it and all it stood for. The children were happy, confident and polite and we are so happy both our children will be learning there before long. I currently work for our own local electrical business though my background prior was within local government as a Court Officer. I run some charitable causes in my spare time, volunteer for the schools PTFA and am really thrilled and proud to be appointed a governor and continue to give something back to the school that has shown so much compassion and warmth to not just my child but all others. I can’t wait to be able to contribute to and support the Cottingham C of E family even more.

I'm pleased to have been appointed as a Church Governor at Cottingham CofE Primary School. I have attended and been involved in church life since I was a baby. I have sung in a church choir, been a churchwarden, taught Sunday school and served at the altar. I went to The King's School in Peterborough. I'm now a worshipping member of the church in the Six Saints Circa Holt parish. I've been a primary school teacher for 33 years and I'm currently working as a supply teacher. During my long career I've been a Deputy Headteacher and a teacher governor. I feel that I will be able to use the knowledge and skills that I've acquired over the years in my role as governor at Cottingham CofE Primary School.

I am very honoured to become a governor for Cottingham CofE Primary. I have been a parent of the school since 2015. We chose to look at Cottingham as I wanted my children to attend a Christian school, the welcome and the atmosphere we received by the children and staff made it a very simple choice. My middle child thrived at Cottingham and gained so much confidence in himself, it was here he found his passion for sports, he then took up sports outside of school. Both of these he has taken with him into secondary school with him. My youngest child is just starting his final year at Cottingham, the nurturing he has received from day one has shaped him into the outgoing boy he is today who has made such strong friendships amongst his peers and good relationships with the staff. It has been such a blessing to be a parent of Cottingham CofE, I wanted to give back and be able to support the school with my background of working with children and safeguarding them my current role is for a local authority as a Principle Care Manager for the Safeguarding Provider Team.
